Too Faced Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer VS Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer (Part 1)

Well well well. The showdown between this two famous concealer in the market is here. I finally managed to get my hands on Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer. Boy, it is pricey in Sephora but lucky for me, I have a seller who brings in all overseas authentic products for a slightly cheaper price than Sephora.

A lot of you out there wants a full coverage concealer to conceal those huge ass dark circle. Yes, I hear you loud and clear there beauties. Let's dive in and have a look at these beauty for a little close up.

First off, let's talk about Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer.

Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer was officially release on 8th October 2018. Huda Kattan teased us since June 2018 about them launching a concealer. Only somewhat around August or September that Huda Kattan keep us on our toes about her new launch of concealer and all the shade range.

When it was finally release, I keep checking out the prices in Sephora which cost $50 SGD. When I found out that this local seller sells authentic overseas brand at a slightly lower price, why not get from here instead of Sephora right? You save a few bucks and you can buy something else with that little money you saved from cutting cost πŸ˜› You can check out her IG at Makeup Haven Cosmetics. I will leave the link below. Feel free to check it out.

Now, let's have a look at what the concealer was promised to do.
  1. Packed with 31% pure pigment and multi-action skincare actives. The Overachiever is not only covers and conceals,  but also soothes the delicate skin around the eyes with every application.
  2. Multitasking formula.
  3. Developed with tired eyes and long nights in mind, the formula works to disguise the appearance  of dark circles, hyperpigmentation, redness, age spots, and discolouration with a matte finish.
  4. Creamy formula infused with Green Tea and Jericho Rose extract.
    • Green Tea - known to erase signs of discoloration or stress.
    • Jericho Rose - known for its soothing and moisturizing properties.
I  got mine in the shade Nougat. I did a wear test together with Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer. I will show you below on how it looks like on my face.

Feel free to zoom into the pictures.

As you can see from the picture, it comes with this applicator that is usually for an eye cream which is called "Cooling Zamac Tip".  It is said that the "tip" helps to sooth puffy under eye and with it being cooling, it helps the under eye to feel less stress and relax. Not forgetting that The Overachiever is a squeezy tube, in case you are particular about it. The Overachiever has 10ml of product with a range of 20 shades.

My thoughts on The Overachievers.
I love Huda Beauty Demi Matte and Matte lipsticks. Don't get me wrong, just that I'm very particular when it comes to concealer. My concerns for a concealer are:
1. Conceal my dark under eye circles.
2. Not drying to the point where it literally make my fine lines super visible.
3. Doesn't cake at any point of time after application.

I feel like Huda Beauty for me is a no-no. Let me tell all the goods on this product first.
It is creamy to the texture and it is very pigmented! No kidding on that. This is when we say "Less is More!" You really need the tiniest amount to conceal the whole under eye. It is easy to blend and it is very full coverage. It is also a buildable product, so don't go crazy with a whole lot of it because it will get cakey.

The bad point about this concealer is that it is too drying for me. On the whole, my skin is very dry and I work in the office for at least 9 hours daily and my skin tends to be drier mid-day. So I don't quite like it. Because my skin is very dry, the concealer tends to settle in between my fine lines making it more prominent. It has a jasmine smell too that I don't quite like. (that said, I don't drink green tea either). The Overachiever is perfect upon application but after an hour, you can totally see my fine lines being obvious. Usually when it comes to very dry under eyes, I would use a face oil under my eyes to let it stay moist. I'm using Tarte Maracuja Oil for my under eye as an extra step to keep it moist. Sadly for me, I can't use my Tarte Maracuja Oil as The Overachiever will move! The Overachiever literally can't sit on top of my Tarte Maracuja oil and that got me wonder. It's drying for a dry skin user and if it can't sit on oil, how would this concealer fair with combination or oily skin?

That being said, I wish I could like this product so much but I guess The Overachiever just don't wish to work with me 😞 Do let me know what you feel about The Overachiever Concealer on yourself. I would love to hear them.

With that, look out for part 2 of this review which would be about Too Faced Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer. Then, we will have a showdown between these two bad boys!

With Love, πŸ’–

Review - Colourpop Disney Designer Collection Palette

Hi Lovelies!

Welcome to my humble blog. For those who are new to my blog, feel free to roam around and have a look at the other products I've reviewed at the bottom right of the page.

Today we are discussing Disney Palette that was release on 28th September. I remembered that day Colourpop mentioned that they will release it at 10am PST and in Singapore we have to wait for 1am on the 29th September to grab the collection. It's not even 24 hours and a lot of the disney collection is sold out. I went in and out of the website just to see if they actually top up the stocks, but I don't think so?

I'm would think that the Disney Designer Collection is limited edition but if it is, best to grab them as soon as possible before you regret it as it is super wearable and very pretty!

Let's now have a look at the palette.

It came in a  gold box which wow-ed me. Even though I've seen the palette online from Kathleen Lights, a fellow Youtuber, did her review on her PR set, I'm still wow-ed at the palette that is in front of me. From left to right, we have Tiara from The Princess And The Frog, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Belle from Beauty and The Beast, Jasmine from Aladdin, Snow White from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs and lastly, we have Cinderella from Cinderella. I have to say Jasmine has always been my favourite princess of all times but let's not bore you with why.

This palette consist of 5 matte eye shadows and 10 shimmer eye shadows. As you can see from this picture, you can't create a smokey eye look on its own. You need another palette to help it create that smokey eye. I have to say these are such pretty colours 😍

Now we are going to go through the colours one by one.

We shall start the swatches from left to right. Do note that hand swatching doesn't determine how bad or good a palette is. Please bear this in mind.

1st Row.
Chip - beige with a hint of baby pink on a certain angle. Matte shade.
Juju - soft baby pink. Matte shade.
Grumpy -  soft mix of orange and brown. Matte shade.
Triton - Warm medium brown. Matte shade.
Abu - Bold brown with a hint of orange. My favorite shade for transition colour. Matte shade.

 2nd Row.
Prince Charming -  Shimmering faint beige with silver sparkles.
Ray - Metallic champagne.
Fairy Godmother - Metallic peach.
One Kiss? - Metallic gold.
Thingamabob - Metallic blue with a hint of silver.

3rd Row.
Enchanted Rose -  Metallic Rosy shimmer.
Poison Apple - Metallic Purple with a hint of pink shimmer.
Magic Carpet - Metallic brown mix with purple and pink shimmer.
Beast - Brown shimmer.
Midnight Curfew - Black with silver shimmer.

Here are 2 examples of the looks that I create using this palette.

Shades that was used were:
Beast and Juju.

Shades that was used were:
Abu and Thingamabob.

This palette is selling at $20 USD from Colourpop website. It will take roughly 2 weeks for the products to reach you (which would be to Singapore).

Colourpop is from California. They are a mid-range price brand which helps you save money at the same time spend without creating a hole in your wallet. They are cruelty-free and they only experiment their products to their people which is basically Colourpop HQ. If only I get to do their product reviews every time 😍 That would be the best job for me.

So, let's sum this up.

1. Is the pigments good?
Yes, I would say so. I'm not biased but the pigment is quite bold if you go with a heavy hand. You want to pick as little product as possible so that there would be room for errors. A little goes a long way to building up the desired shade.

2. Is the pallete a little expensive than the others?
Yes, I do agree to that question. However, the palette is limited edition. Ever since it was launched on 28th September, I have not seen Colourpop restock their Disney Designer Collection. I would feel that it is a little pricey as it is limited edition which means they are only release at a certain period of time frame. So do grab them before they are fully sold out.

3. Is the palette travel friendly?
I should think so. I have a friend who brings a palette of Colourpop everywhere she goes. Thus, I would assume it is.πŸ˜‚

That's it for today. I shall see you in my next post which would be on Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer.

Till then! πŸ’–

Review - Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Palette

Hi Beauties!!

Today we are introducing one of favourite palette that I reach out for on a daily basis. If you want to know, then keep on reading πŸ˜‰

For those of you who comes here for the first time, welcome welcome welcome! Welcome to my humble blog. Over here we talk about all things that enhance our natural beauty.

Let's start of with introducing the palette.

Why hello there beauty 😍
I've loved this palette since I first got them and I've love you till now. This baby right here is my everyday go to work palette. This palette consist of warm shades. There is orange and pinkish purple shades. What I really love about this palette is the shade Candygram (top row on the left). It has this iridescent colour of pinkish and silver mix together! Oh how can one not love that shade?

Let me show you the swatches of the palette.

Those are the colours for the palette accordingly. Ain't the palette a beauty? 😍

This baby is very pigmented. So be sure to pick the colour bit by bit rather than going too strong. You want to be able to build up the colours slowly without the pressure of toning down the overly strong colour. Unless you're the type who love bold colours, then I don't see the problem. On days when I'm lazy to take my highlighter, I would just dip my brush into the shimmers and use them as a highlighter on my face. It works πŸ˜‰

Trust me when I say this palette can make a good smokey eye look.

Let's summarize this.

1. Is there any fall outs?
Yes, no palette that I know doesn't have any fall outs. But you don't have to worry of the pressed palette running low 😜

2. How much is the palette?
It is selling at $18 USD (which is around $25 SGD). To me, this palette or any palette from Colourpop is worth the purchase for a person who thinks Urban Decay Palette is super expensive .

3. Would you recommend the palette to friends and families?
Most definitely! What you get isn't just the pretty palette but also a decent pigment to its shade. I'm already considering of getting another palette from them πŸ™ˆ

4. How long does the shade stays on your lids?
For me, I'm the type who use concealer as my eyeshadow primer. I would say the eyeshadow last me at least more than 10 hours. Just as long as you don't forget to prime and set it with a setting spray. That way, your make up would last a bit longer than without setting spray.

With that, I shall end here. I see you again in another post 😘

Till then πŸ’–

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge vs Juno & Co Microfiber Velvet Sponge

Hi Beauty!

Welcome to my humble blog! For those who are new, I post a new post on every Friday. So, stay tune! πŸ˜‰

Today we are gonna talk about make up sponges. What do we look for in beauty sponges?
1. Is it expensive?
2. Does the sponge absorb more product than the other?
3. Is the sponge easy to get locally?
4. How is the texture? Is it soft? Is it stiff?
5. Is it easy to clean the sponge?
Basically, that's the questions I will consider when I look at sponges. So without further ado, let's introduce the sponges.

On the right, we have Real Technique Miracle Complexion sponge. And on our left, we have Juno & Co Microfiber Velvet sponge. I'm gonna talk about the recently rave Juno Sponge first, then we will talk about Real Technique Sponge.

Juno sponge recently launched around mid August 2018. Almost all the youtubers that I followed was reviewing it. It was so highly raved that I have to try it for myself. Once the item arrived, I know I had to try it to give you if this is a yay or a nay.

Real Technique sponge on the other hand, has been in the market way before I even begin to get real interested in make up. The hype is so good, people keep comparing this sponge to Beauty Blender which is so damn famous in the market but it is also super damn expensive for a sponge. For 1 Beauty Blender, I could actually get a set of 4 Real Technique sponges (no offend to Beauty Blender, you guys are awesome but so overprice).

Here's a look at how both sponges look in comparison when they are dry and damp.

As you can see from the picture, Juno sponge have that tiny "hair" or "bristle" (microfiber is the actual word but it looks like tiny bristle to me) which helps to blend better. Imagine yourself using a brush when you put on your foundation. You can still see brush strokes after you "blend" them. So you would then go in with a sponge to smooth out the brush marks. With Juno sponge, you don't need to. This sponge would give you that airbrush finish that you always wanted. As to Real Technique sponge, you have always been a dream when it comes to blending. Below I will indicate why I say this.

Personally for me, I prefer to wet any beauty sponge that I'm using. Why do I do that? Because the youtubers told me to πŸ˜‚ No just kidding. Somehow I feel when the sponge is dry, it makes the sponge soak up so much of the product and it makes blending any product a tad painful.
When the sponge is damp, I feel that the sponge absorb less product and it blends so much faster than the sponge being dry. Does that make sense? Or are you just a brush person?

I'm going to make it into a table format of comparison. At least that would make things clearer than reading a whole paragraph. Hehehe!

Real Technique Miracle Complexion Sponge Juno & Co Microfiber Velvet Sponge
Is the sponge soft? yes. not really.  It is a bit hard.
how is the texture? soft and smooth. it has this velvet feel that makes it look like you're blending using a brush and sponge.
does it soak a lot of product? not really. Only if the texture of the product is thick. yes, it soak up a lot.
does it take long to blend? not really but neither is it fast to blend. I would say it is on par with all the other smooth sponge timing.  nope. This blends quite fast due to its velvet feel which is the microfiber part.
is it easy to clean the sponge? not really. But a bit of patient and a lot more foamy soap, you can get it as clean as new. no. this takes ages to clean it. It feels like you're trying to remove a stubborn stain on your favourite top.
is it expensive? Can you get it locally? this is $6 USD. You can get it at Watsons or Carousell at a bundle price which is totally worth it. this is $6 USD. You can now get them from the website and carousell.

Which is my favourite sponge you ask?
REAL TECHNIQUE WINS!! I personally love a smooth and soft sponge. While Juno Sponge is great at giving that airbrush finish, the thought of cleaning the sponge is super painful compared to Real Technique Sponge.

So here comes my final verdict.
1. Which sponge would I recommend?
Hmm. Tough call. I won't recommend on this. I personally thinks that this is up to anybody's point of view. Some may love Juno Sponge while I still prefer Real Technique sponge.

2. Is the price pricey?
I would say the price is reasonable if you wish to try.

With that, I shall end here.
Til then! πŸ’–
